Andrea J. Shaw

Founder and Visionary

profile-andrea-2“Passionate.” “Loyal.” “Energetic.” These are all words colleagues use to describe Andrea. A tiny and mighty dynamo, she is just one of those people who leaves a lasting impression on everyone she comes across in both her professional and personal life. Renowned for her values-based leadership skills, she truly is the driving force behind TORQUE Strategies’ high-performance team. But that’s nothing new for Andrea – she raises the bar and inspires others everywhere she goes.

Prior to founding TwentyTen Corp. which includes sister companies TwentyTen Group and TORQUE Strategies, Andrea was Vice President of Sponsorship, Sales and Marketing for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC). In this role, she lead a team that generated over $760 million in domestic sponsorship revenue – an amount that was unprecedented worldwide for a Winter Olympic Games. As well, she headed up the strategic development for the longest domestic Torch Relay in Olympic history.

Before her revolutionary decade with VANOC, Andrea transformed the special event, sport marketing agency The Landmark Group, Pacific into an industry leader, before selling it to API International, where she became Managing Partner, Canada. Andrea went on to establish her own successful strategic sponsorship, marketing and communications consultancy, A.J. Shaw and Associates.

As TORQUE Strategies Founder & Visionary, Andrea is currently focused on the company’s core aspiration to elevate industry standards in Canada and around the globe. And if anyone can do it, it’s Andrea.

Beyond the Bullpen

Leading by example, Andrea believes wholeheartedly in making time to make a difference in her community. She chairs the inaugural Destination BC board of directors, and sits on the board of the BC Cancer Foundation. Before that, she served for more than ten years on the board of the BC Women’s Hospital Foundation.

The Lowdown on Andrea’s Downtime

When Andrea isn’t flying back and forth between Toronto and Vancouver, she can be found spending as much time as possible with her children, enjoying the beautiful outdoors of British Columbia, and hosting cozy kitchen parties for friends and family! Yes, this fireball of energy really does do it all!
